BEAUTIFUL Antique Doulton Lambeth. 1874 Lidded Jug by Renown artist. A RARE incised jug that has been Professionally Restored. An Impressive 9 1/2 Tall. Rare & Highly Collectable Doulton Lambeth Lidded Jug by renowned and desirable artist. Base stamped with Doulton Lambeth backstamp, and signed by FLORENCE BARLOW. 9 1/2 tall, approx. 4 3/8 wide at the base, & approx. 5 1/2 at widest point. This lidded jug is beautiful. At first look, most collectors would think that this jug was done by Hannah Barlow. This is a rare incised Goats and Dog jug, or Chocolate Pot, by Florence Barlow that has been professionally restored. The jug had already been restored when I acquired it. I was told that the restoration was to a hairline that ran from the bottom of the top of the handle down to the base of the jug. The restoration is hard to see with the naked eye, but these photos using very bright lighting show it well. Barlow was one of the Barlow family that between them produced some of the finest decorative works ever produced by Doulton. Florence joined Doulton in 1873 and stayed for 36 years until 1909. Like her sister, Hannah, Florence’s output was prodigious, varied and meticulous. This extensively and beautifully incised goats and dog jug is a beautiful example of her highly collectible and sought after work.
