Rare 1984 Clark Gable Royal Doulton Character Jug #d6709 Celebrity Collection

Ultra RARE 1984 CLARK GABLE Royal Doulton Character Toby Jug Mug from The Celebrity Collection #D6709 of the famous Gone With The Wind Actor is Hand Painted Porcelain made in England. Approval was denied by The Clark Gable Estate to distribute this character jug, so only about 100 or less of these jugs, designed by Royal Doulton artist Stanley J. Taylor, are known to exist. Gable is depicted with his signature smile and the handle of the jug is an Old Hollywood movie camera with film wrapped around. The bottom has his facsimile signature with a quote of his famous last line from Gone With The Wind. Collectible jug mug measures approximately 7″h x 5.5″w at bottom. Clark is in Very Excellent to condition with no damage. Colors are nice and bright. There is some glare on our photos due to the high gloss glaze. Clark has been in our Gone With The Wind Collection for about 20 years. Comes from a smoke-free home. Large Royal Doulton Prototype Character Jug Clark Gable D6709

PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER LISTINGS! This jug was produced in very limited quantities in 1984 – almost as soon as production began it ceased due to contractual problems regarding the Clark Gable image. The jug is featured at Page 85 of the book A Century of Royal Doulton Character and Toby Jugs by the late Steve Mullins and David Fastenau. In the book, they speculate that less than 100 were produced. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, crazing or other damage whatsoever. This is one of the rarest character jugs in existence and hardly ever comes up for sale. Im happy to answer any questions regarding this jug. RARE Royal Doulton Character Jug Clark GableD6709 RARE

Offered for your consideration is this very nice rare large character jug depicting Clark Gable. Jug is approximately 7 tall and was produced in 1984 so it has been out of production for over 25 years. In the Charlton catalogue of character jugs 10’th ed. The story behind this jug which was supposed t be one of the celebrity collection is it was issued before permission was granted from the Clark Gable estate and had to be withdrawn when permission was denied. Only a small number of jugs are known to exist. Photos of the item above are a part of the item description. All photos are of the item being offered.
