Miniature Royal Doulton Character Jug Anne Boleyn Not Produced For Sale
MINIATURE ROYAL DOULTON CHARACTER JUG – ANNE BOLEYN – NOT PRODUCED FOR. Offered for sale is this charming Royal Doulton Character Jug in the form of Anne Boleyn, from the Henry VIII and his Six Wives series. It is marked “Not Produced For Sale” on the base which indicates that it was a trial piece, as it is a green and deep red colourway, whereas it was eventually issued in a black and grey colourway. This is Style One with the handle in the form of an axe. It was designed by Douglas V. Tootle and issued from 1980 to 1990. 2.5 inches tall and is offered for sale in very good condition with no chips or cracks. It is fully marked on the base with the Royal Doulton stamp and the words “Property of Royal Doulton Tableware” and “Not Produced For Sale”. The reference number for this figure would be D6651. Doulton Higbee’s trial Colorway Elephant Trainer Character Jug Toby Museum Sale
In perfect condition with the standard Doulton backstamp plus the GT Sample stamp (Graham Tongue) and the Higgbb approval label its a unique piece full of interesting provenance. John Lennon Doulton Prototype Character Jug Toby Unique Museum Beatles sale
In perfect condition and standing 5 and a 3/4 inches high with the Property of royal Doulton prototype backstop. This is one of only three known prototypes of the original design for the release of the John Lennon character jug in 1984. As you can see from the comparison photos of the final production piece this prototype is a completely different model with a handle reflecting the Sergeant Pepper Beatles period and a slightly different likeness of John. Apparently Royal Doulton after completing the development thought the actual release (shown in picture 2) would sell just as well without the expensive accoutrements.
