A superb rare saltglazed stoneware jug of England’s greatest hero who died in the heat of battle at Trafalgar, his most famous victory in a series of great victories. This is a superb replica of the original jug made by Doulton and Watts of Lambeth by Royal Doulton. Standing 20cms tall – eight inches – it has clearly defined impressed marks on the base. I have used the picture of Horatio, modelled pre-loss of his eye, with the dog food tin first as that is the best picture of the colour, a lovely golden sand honey colour. My thanks to Doulton expert Harry who tells me this is a 1905 reproduction produced in anticipation of the centenary of Nelson’s death. This could be a fab Christmas present for an admirer of Nelson – and who isn’t? – or you could just treat yourself.
