Three Witches Doulton Prototype Character Jug Unique Museum sale

In perfect condition and standing just 2 and a quarter inches high its width exceeds its height. The Three Witches is we believe unique and was produced as a prototype in 1998 and never put into production. Apparently it was a face too far… Further details and pictures of the Three Witches can be found on page 316 of A Century of Royal Doulton Character Jugs by Steve Mullins and David Fastenau. As everyone knows it is always difficult to price pieces like this so we are starting off with what we think is a relatively high price and are opening it up to offers. Go as low or as high as you like with your offers – each will be considered and who knows? The Museum is currently closed to the public due to the pandemic but we will be re opening as soon as the safety guidelines allow. Very Rare DOULTON Large THORENS MUSICAL Character Jug – AULD MAC D5889 1930s. This is a very rare Royal Doulton musical large character jug modelled as Auld Mac. The base of the jug houses a Thorens Swiss musical movement which plays “The Campbells are Coming”. This scarce piece was designed by Harry Fenton and issued only between 1938 and 1939. Stands 6¼ inches tall. The inner rim of base has a Royal Doulton backstamp with model details as shown. The musical movement has its original Thorens label. This gorgeous detailed hand painted handmade Royal Doulton Character Jug named Merlin D6529 was designed by G. Sharpe, and was issued between 1960 and 1998. This Character Jug features Merlin a legendary figure best known as the wizard featured in the Arthurian legend. This character jug is true to the image from the Arthurian, with his flowing gray hair, beard, and purple robe. Standing approximately 7 1/4″ tall x 7″ wide, he is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs, and no fading. See pictures for details including bottom markings.
