A very scarce Royal Doulton series ware art pottery Polar Bears and Trees medium size celadon crackle glaze pitcher/jug. Size: 8″ across handle/spout x 4.75″ height x 6 depth. And also has a painted mark D3128 and an impressed’44’. The glaze is not the typical white crackle glaze but rather a pale celadon crackle glaze and is decorated with a blue glaze band encircling the jug adorned with eight white polar bears walking amongst green trees. We are uncertain as to who at Royal Doulton designed this pattern, but it is most probable that it was by Charles J Noke. Condition is excellent with no damage or repairs. There is minor discoloration at the rim and where the thumb would rest on the handle; however, because of the green coloration to the glaze this is only noticeable upon close scrutiny and is mentioned only for complete disclosure. A very unusual and lovely piece for the Doulton collector.
