NOTE: This has flaws. Please read condition notes below. Beautiful, vintage Royal Doulton “The Apothecary” Jug / Loving Cup made in the 1930s. Incudes very hard-to-find certificate of authenticity (COA) with Charles Noke’s signature (I’m not sure if it’s printed or hand-signed)! This is number 503 of 600 made. This jug itself has Harry Fenton’s signature on it. This gorgeous pottery piece features hand-painted scenes inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. There are raised/relief sculpted figures throughout. This has many intricate details, including little faces carved onto the handles and around the border at the top. The colors include cream, green, brown and more. The jug measures just over 6 tall. It is 5 diameter at the top not including the handles. Condition: This is in good vintage condition. Please see the last several photos of flaws. The biggest flaw is a horizontal hairline crack at the bottom of one handle (see last photo). It’s not that noticeable, and the handle construction still appears solid, although I’d suggest treating it gently. There is also crazing. The crazing is very hard to see on the outside and is only in certain areas. The crazing is more consistent throughout on the inside. You should not notice the crazing on the outside in most lighting conditions. I had to look very closely under direct sunlight to be see it. There is also some discoloration and marks on the inside; I believe this was used as a vase or planter in the past, which caused some stains. Finally, the certificate of authenticity has been folded into thirds and has a small tear as shown in the photos. (The magnets holding it down flat for the photo are not included).
