The two sided Mephistopheles jug was designed by Charles Noke and Harry Fenton. Issued between 1937 – 1948 this version is without the verse. First found in 16th century German legend, Mephistopheles became best known in Johann von Goethes drama, Faust (1808). In it he is portrayed as an evil spirit or devil to whom Faust sells his soul in return for services. Good condition no chips, cracks or restoration.
