ROYAL DOULTON’DICKENS DREAM’ JUG 1933. Produced in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, England, in 1933. Depicting a multitude of Charles Dickens Characters in low relief all of whom are listed to the base. The handle is modeled as Poor Joe’ from the novel Bleak House, with the spout as a mask in slumber. Designed by and signed by Charles Noke and inscribed’Keep any mind Green. The jug is of bulbous form and stands at 10 1/2 ins tall. Fully marked to the base with the Royal Doulton Lion and Crown. Although not a Limited Edition, it is widely believed that less than 1,000 were produced. The jug is in very good/excellent condition for it’s age with no chips, cracks or restoration. There is some crazing to the glaze which is to be expected for a piece of this age. A wonderful Deco Jug which would grace any serious Doulton collection.
