Doulton & Watts Lambeth Stag Hunt Stoneware Jug Circa 1840. This salt glazed stoneware piece is in good condition considering its age and all damage is visible in the photos. The company known as Jones, Watts & Doulton began trading in 1815, becoming Doulton & Watts in 1820 after Jones left the company and then in 1853 changed to Doulton & Co after the retirement of John Watts – then of course later becoming the Royal Doulton brand we all know today. Only pottery between 1820 and 1853 bear the markings of Doulton & Watts, making this quite a rare old piece.
