The item in the image is a full sized Royal Doulton Sir John Falstaff Toby Jug. A jovial character from Shakespeare’s. The Merry Wives of Windsor, seated. Wearing a burgundy cloak and a black hat with a feather. He holds a pitcher of beer in one hand and a cup in the other. Designer: Originally designed by Charles Noke and produced later under Harry Fenton’s design. Part of the Literary Character Series. Inspired by the fictional character from William Shakespeare’s plays. Markings : The base is stamped for Royal Doulton, includes the name “Falstaff”. And dated 22 March 1979. Material : It is made of porcelain or ceramic with a glazed finish. Production Dates : The’Falstaff’ character jug was produced by Royal Doulton from 1950 to 1995. This large version measures approximately 8.5 inches high.
