This is a rare. Original Royal Doulton Kingsware Ben. Kingsware was developed by Charles Noke. No other factory in the world has been able to recreate the same lustrous finish, which makes Kingsware a unique and highly desirable collectable. The rich, brown effects of the Kingsware glaze were achieved by painting the design in the colored slip on the inside of the mold, then the dark terracotta slip was added to form the body. The transparent glaze was then fired over the finished piece, giving depth to the colors beneath. Base marked: MADE IN ENGLAND – ROYAL DOUTON ENGLAND with lion & crown stamp.
