DESCRIPTION Antique Doulton Lambeth stoneware royal marriage commemorative pitcher dating to the late part of the 19th century. Dating to 1893 this typical two tone style along with applied engraving characters (appliqué) was made to celebrate the royal marriage to the then Prince of Wales Edward to his future Queen Princess Mary of Teck. Edward later ascended the throne in 1901 as Edward V11 after the death of his mother Queen Victoria. This ceramic pitcher is a a stunning example of Doulton Lambeths fine work. This particular piece was made by the Doulton artist Mary MS Lilley and is signed on the bottom. Mortlock and co were a well to do retail store who commission pottery and china from many of the top companies of the Victorian era. Marked on the body: EM 1893 Marked on the base: Doulton Lambeth England 8703 l (Mary Lilley) Rd 212319. MEASUREMENTS Doulton Lambeth wedding ceramic pitcher measures 5 tall by 4.5 wide and weighs 1lbs 4oz. CONDITION In good condition with what appears to be a firing crack on the applique (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
