Royal Doulton Stoneware Thorne’s Scotch Whisky Jug. Very Rare 8 1/4 inches high

A nice advertising piece. Doulton Lambeth Thornes scotch whisky harvest ware jug. Fabulous looking advertising jug, stands almost 8 inches tall and measures about 5 inches across the base. Raised trade mark cartouche to the front, below the writing, which reads; THORNE’S SCOTCH WHISKY Impressed makers marks to the base read; Doulton Lambeth England. A lovely looking jug that still displays well, but unfortunately has had a knock on the lip, which has resulted in it having a, albeit very tight, crack running about 3/4 of the way down from it. The original ding has had some paint on it by the looks of it, the crack hasn’t been touched. It also has a tiny chip on the base.

Here we have a beautiful vintage (possibly antique) JUG DECANTER with a metal corked stopper advertising DEWER’S WHISKY made by Kingsware for ROYAL DOULTON of England – displaying a center portrait “George the Guard” (a honey glazed man in a tricorn hat holding a blunderbuss) on a glossy brown glazed background. The bottom is marked, DEWER. S WHISKY (Lion) (Crown) ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND. 9″ high (with stopper) x 4-1/4″ in lower diameter x 2-1/2 in base diameter, can hold up to 28 ounces. It is in great maintained (displayed) condition with no chips or cracks, no damage noted minor age crazing on exterior bottom, not offensive. This item weighs approx. Or so for the packing box and packing material.

Presenting an exceptionally scarce and desirable antique whisky jug produced by the quality English makers Royal Doulton for Dewar’s Scotch Whisky circa 1914. This stylishly shaped Whisky jug is beautifully decorated with a transferware printed scene depicting the Bleriot Monoplane flown by Maurice Guillaux over Sydney Harbour in 1914. The reverse side of the jug features the black lettering “Dewar’s”. This scarce Australian themed piece would make a superb addition to any Royal Doulton Kingsware or antique whisky jug collection! Add threetreefrogs to favourites. ANTIQUE ROYAL DOULTON DEWAR’S WHISKY JUG. SIZE: This piece stands approx 160mms tall, measures 175mms in length and 80mms in width. CONDITION: This piece is presented in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is some light and fine overall crazing noticeable only on close examination but mentioned for complete accuracy. Original stopper no longer remains. This Whiskey Jug has been very well cared for and presents magnificently.
