A very fine example of this Royal Doulton Lambeth jug in excellent condition. It is commemorating the death of General Gordon in 1884 at the Battle of Khartoum, Sudan. Jug is brown and white, with General Gordon’s portrait on one side, and inscriptions on the others. More pictures available on request. Major-General Charles George Gordon CB, also known as Chinese Gordon, Gordon Pasha, and Gordon of Khartoum, was a British Army officer and administrator. He saw action in the Crimean War as an officer in the British Army. He was a big figure in Victorian England – a very highly respected man of the time – hailed a hero by Winston Churchill.
