The design originates from traditional signage referencing decapitated martyrs, later evolving into a satirical reference to the notion held by men, the primary patrons of pubs in the past, that women were overly talkative. Very Limited amount were made. The fact is it was a difficult flask to made because of the style of the handle. Why there are not many around today? Chances are if you picked up the flask by the handle it could break, especially when full. The handle is extremely fragile. Most of these that were made have not survived till today. In 1899 the Doulton studio recruited a young designer by the name of Charles Noke.
