A rare example of a Royal Doulton soft paste jug / pitcher / ewer dating from the early 20th century. With a wavy rim and narrow lip, decorated with exotic birds of paradise surrounded by foliage on two sides and richly sprayed with gilt throughout. Above the birds are two medallions elaborately outlined in gold depicting a bee on one side and a butterfly on the other. Made by Royal Doulton, England, c. 16.5 cm at widest point. Very good antique condition. Wear to gilt appropriate to age; repair to handle; crazing on body. 1901 – 1922 407 g 18 cm tall 16.5 cm at widest point Very good antique condition.
