Royal Doulton William Shakespeare D7136, 1999 Character Jug of the Year. Celebrating the 400th anniversary of the Globe Theater, this impressive pieces was issued in 1999 as the Character Jug of the Year and produced only for one year. Designed by Robert Tabbenor, the handle features the Globe Theater, a scroll with the date 1599 the year the Globe Theater was constructed and the Comedy and Tragedy masks, symbols of theater. The base features the Royal Doulton mark, artist monogram and Top Hat year cypher for 1999. The Top Hat year cypher was inspired by the same worn by Sir Henry Doulton. 7.5 inches tall. Excellent condition, never displayed, no damage or repairs and complete with Certificate of Authenticity. Looking for a special piece?
