Royal Doulton The Mikado Character Jug 6.5 Made in England 1958. 6501, a Royal Doulton character jug. 6 1/2 high (Large). Made in England 1958. No chips, cracks or crazing. Excellent Collector’s condition! Mikado D6501 (black and turquoise hat, green and white robes). Designed by Max Henk, issued 1959 – 1969. “Mikado” is the ancient title for the emperor of Japan, beginning with the reign of the Mikado Jimmu in 660 B. Believed by many to have descended from the all-powerful Sun Goddess, the same family line has been traced through 124 reigns.
