Probably from a jug and basin set- here we have the monumental pitcher- jug. Standing a whopping 31.5cm and a diameter approx 17cm around the waist. Weight 1.8 kilos. Note some water staining through crazing to the base and to top of handle where it meets the jug however essentially excellent with no chipping or cracks. A massive piece from this enduringly popular series of the Gallant Fishers. Royal Doulton introduced the Gallant Fishers series in 1905 and it was in production right up until the 1950s. This series was made on a multitude of shapes with over its 50 years of production and with 16 unique characters that appear with 14 different quotations the range and variety is almost limitless.
