Royal Doulton Extremely Rare Prototype Character jug Miniature Lumberjack. Condition is excellent with no chips – cracks – crazing or restoration, the jug is 100% the miniature size and is 2.5 inches high. This prototype character jug was only trialled but never put in to production. Only about 10 examples of this miniature jug are known to exist. Any white marks in the photographs are only reflections from the camera flash. Please message me with any questions you may have about this rare jug. Royal Doulton Clint Eastwood 1989 Prototype Character Jug Museum sale

Further details and of this actual Prototype can be found on page 86 of A Century of Royal Doulton Character Jugs by Steve Mullins and David Fastenau and on page 14 in the 2018 Supplement to that book. In pristine condition and just over 8 and a half inches in height. Clint Eastwood is slightly larger then the usual large size character jug and makes for a very striking addition to any collection for its size alone never mind it’s provenance. Commissioned in the late 80’s by Nick Tzimas of UKI ceramics (an old friend of ours) Clint as Joe in the film “A Fist full of Dollars” was meant to be part of a ten set collection of Film Stars to be released by Doulton. Despite all ten actors and actresses being modeled and developed – all with the same style film title handle – Doulton was unable to secure all the individual licenses and personal approvals from the individual actors or film companies. Rumor is that Clark Gable was the hold out but we suspect that was just started by Charlton Heston. Whatever the truth of the matter, the collection was never released and only a few prototypes of each were ever seen. As everyone knows it is always difficult to price pieces like this so we are starting off with what we think is a relatively high price and are opening it up to offers. Go as low or as high as you like with your offers – each will be considered and who knows? It could be yours but don’t delay putting in an offer if your interested! One of the our requested Prototypes to date. The Clown with a Bucket sculpted in 1988/9 by Stanley Taylor for the popular Circus Series. This version was rejected for the far less scary versions which made it into production. They should have released both as this one again seem to have superior detailing with a second (even scarier) clowns face having a bucket of custard poured onto it. ROYAL DOULTON CHARACTER JUG Up for sale I have this wonderful Limited Edition Kenneth Williams -Carry On D7173 character jug by Royal Doulton which was issued in a Limited Edition in of no more than 1,500. This is numbered 257. The jugs measure approx. 11cm/4.25 inches in height and is in wonderful all round condition with no chips, cracks or damage and barely any signs of wear. Just the usual odd dot/pimple in the original finish. This is fully stamped underneath (see photo) and is first quality and comes with the original box. I do not have the certificate.
