Royal Doulton Stoneware Jug Nelson And His Captains (Green) A fine commemorative, wide based jug entitled Nelson and His Captains. The piece probably dates to around 1905, the centenary of the battle of Trafalgar. The base and spout are in green glaze with the body being a light tan brown. The band has a portrait to the front of Lord Nelson around this are scenes of ships and smaller portraits of his Captains – Troubridge, Collingwood, Hardy and Miller. The base has the Royal Doulton stamp and the code X6436. Dimensions The jug measure 8 inches (20cm) in height and has a diameter of approx. 5 ½ inches (14cm). It weighs 1.150Kg. Condition The jug is in wonderful condition with no cracks or chips. There is a tiny area on the lip uncovered by glaze due to a clay fold.
