












RARE DOULTON LAMBETH GREYBEARD MOTTO STONEWARE JUG. Here we offer for consideration a beautiful Rare Doulton Lambeth Greybeard Motto Stoneware Jug. The piece has a molded pictorial greybeard figural face down the front under the spout. The Motto print on the stoneware reads “MERRY MEET, MERRY PART” and wraps around the middle of the jug, and there is a green leaf design that wraps around at the bottom. Measurements : T his beautiful rare jug measures approximately 6 3/4 H. Backstamp: There are also several Doulton Artist and Potter’s marks impressed on the bottom of the jug, back-stamp mark reads DOULTON LAMBETH, ENGLAND. The Doulton Pottery was established in 1815 in the Lambeth area of London. At first, the founder. John Doulton, made useful wares in salt-glaze stoneware, a resilient, practical material suitable for bottles, jars, and jugs. Pre-owned, the Jug is in excellent condition with no damage, there is a small chip under Merry on the brown strip, a hairline mark under the left eye, seems to be more of a manufacturing flaw not sure if it is a crack, it does not affect the inside of the jug, no repairs.
