Rare antique Doulton Lambeth Brown Faux Leather Jug with silver-plated rim. It is in excellent used condition, only age appropriate ware. Doulton Lambeth Olive Dale Blue Green & Brown Fern & Ribbed Stoneware Jug Tall stoneware tapered conical shaped jug or pitcher. Tan at the bottom with ribbing. Brown and dark blyue decoration to the top with embossed fern pattern. Impressed Doulton Lambeth England on the base. This mark was used between 1891 and 1902. Also marked with a lower case D and two lines used by Doulton artist Olive Dale. Excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Measures approximately 4 1/2 inches wide x 7 3/4 inches tall. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display-ability of the piece. When Peter ones China were commissioning a special color way of Athos they requested that it be painted in rich red and gold colors and for the inside rim to be shaded in the old manner of early releases. Sadly for one reason or another (cost) Royal Doulton decided not to intorduction the production of the example shown here. In perfect condition with a Doulton stamp its a stunning unique piece that really stands out in terms of quality and style. This Athos trial is one of the classics and used to belong to the Bearman Collection before being acquired by ourselves – for further information refer to page 45 of the A Century of Royal Doulton Character and Toby Jugs. Doulton Trial Handle Fortune Teller Ace Of Spades Character Jug Toby

When the large Fortune Teller Character Jug was released in 1991 as the Jug of the year it had a Tarot Card Handle for the production release and a spotted bandana. What was not known at the time was that Doulton had considered releasing a set of four with playing cards Ace’s as the Handle transfer. Were they just trying to appear not quite so occultist or was it just a cost consideration not to have 4 different transfers. We will never know but here is one of those 4 trials. The Ace of Clubs complete with the striped instead of spotted handle colors as well as the playing card. Doulton Burslem A2978 Hand Painted Pink & Orange Floral & Raised Gold Jug / Ewer. Nice earthenware ewer / jug. Decorated with large hand painted pink and orange flowers with raised gold gilt highlights and blue, pink, purple, and orange leaves. With a patchwork floral design around the bottom of the spout. Gold gilding along the foot rim, neck, and to the handle. Marked with a crown over Doulton Burslem. This mark was used by Royal Doulton between 1886 to 1891. Has crazing typical of earthenware and the spout appears to had a small section of the end broken off and gilded over to try and hide this. No additional chips, chips, or restoration. Measures approximately 6 1/4 inches wide x 10 inches tall. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
