Ale Pitcher ROYAL DOULTON STONEWARE with Motto Antique Early 1900s English #2506
This great ale pitcher was made by Royal Doulton sometime in the early 1900s. It’s known as motto ware and is very collectible. The motto on this pitcher reads. Take Fortune as you find her. And if she frown don’t you. A smile will oft recall her. And make her kind and true. Made of stoneware it is Medieval Art Nouveau in style. The middle portion with the words is a light brown color and the top and bottoms have a brown-on-brown design of leaves and vines. This design is exceptionally elegant and really gives this pitcher a wonderful look. It stands about 8″ tall and is close to 5 1/2″ in diameter at its widest point.
