Rare! C. 1987 Royal Doulton Character Toby The Juggler Unique Prototype D6835
This listing is for a Vintage and Rare! 1987 Large ROYAL DOULTON PROTOTYPE CHARACTER TOBY JUG – THE JUGGLER, D6835 – created by Stanley James-Taylor, with a different color scheme than the one eventually chosen to be produced. The Shoulders of The Juggler are a partial Dark Blue and a Plum Color instead of the common Blue on one side and Yellow on the other. The trim on the shirt is Mottled Gray instead of Red. The juggling balls are Mottled Gray instead of Red. The trim on the Skittles is a Dark Green and Yellow instead of Dark Green and Red. The Headband is a matching Dark Green. Backstamp specifically says The Property of Royal Doulton Tableware Ltd. Not Produced For Sale. Item stands the normal 6.5 tall and is free of chips and cracks. Truly rare and unusual item for the discerning Toby/Character Jug collector. Will be fully Insured and well packed. Rare Royal Doulton Prototype Black Watch Piper Large Character Jug
This magnificent large size character jug is the original factory prototype for’The Piper’. However the badges and uniform colours were changed when they did not obtain the necessary permissions to use the actual Black Watch uniform. In the end they combined elements of the red Gordon Highlanders uniform in the manner of the William Grant decanter which had been such a phenomenal success for the company a few years before. The jug is in excellent condition with prototype markings on the base. Measures approximately 8.25 inches high. In mint condition with no crazing, no faults, no damages and no restoration.
