Royal Doulton Catherine Of Aragon D6643 Vintage Large 6 7/8 Toby Jug 1975-89. This is in Excellent Condition with No Chips No Cracks No Crazing. Very Nice Royal Doulton Toby Jug. Maslankowski this is titled Catherine Of Aragon and has a castle tower for the handle. This was issued from 1975 to 1989. This measures 6 7/8″ High x 4 1/8″ Wide rim to rim. I have provided a lot of pictures to best describe the condition of this Jug. (The pictures are of the exact piece you will receive). Photography Props & photo stands are not included. Royal Doulton Greetings Cliff Cornell Famous Cornell Fluxes Cleveland Toby Jug
Clifford Black (“Cliff”) Cornell was the founder, owner, and president of the Cleveland Flux Company of Ohio. In 1956, Cornell commissioned Doulton to create a portrait Toby of himself, designed in the image of the British statesman, Winston Churchill, of whom, besides their physical resemblance, he was reportedly a great admirer. Cornell requested that his Jug portray his likeness as closely as possible to that of the British Prime Minister. The Cliff Cornell Toby Jugs were produced in three different colorways, and two sizes, with Cornell wearing either a blue, dark brown, or light brown (tan) suit, and various matching ties; 500 each of the dark brown and blue suited-Cornells were made, while just 250 of the light brown suit version were produced. The Jugs’ bases were inscribed, Greetings Cliff Cornell’Famous Cornell Fluxes’ Cleveland Flux Company. Cornell-commissioned Jugs were sent at Thanksgiving, along with a holiday card saying that Cornell was sorry he could not be there himself, but he was sending the Jug with his greetings and compliments.

Vintage Royal Doulton Toby Jug of Mr. This jug was specially commissioned in 1984 by Quaker Oats to make the 85th Anniversary of the company. This jug was designed by Harry Sales and modelled by John G. Tongue D6738 This a limited edition production and this jug is #1414 of 3500. This jug is in pristine condition, clearly hand painted as you can see the brush strokes. Absolutely NO chips, cracks, or stains. Measurements are; 7 1/2″ Tall, 4″ x 4″ spout, and 6 3/4″ x 4 3/4 Base A little history of Toby Jugs. There was a man named Henry Elwes who lived in England in the 18th Century. He was known for being a heavy drinker. He was given the nickname Toby Fillpot after he drank 2,000 pints of Yorkshire Ale. Apparently the name was inspired by an English drinking song called “The Brown Jug” and when Henry (Toby) died they took his ashes and made them into “Toby’s Jug”.
