Royal Doulton Antagonists’ Collection 2-Sided George Washington & King George Toby Character Jug D6749. Only 9,500 of these jugs were created worldwide in 1985, and this is number 5,548! This collectible limited edition jug, measuring approximately 7.25 inches, was part of “The Antagonists” Collection of two-sided character jugs. This features the faces of George III and George Washington with a double-sided handle representing’The Siege of Yorktown 1781 where the would-be first U. President defeated the British king’s forces during the American Revolutionary War. Only 9,500 of these jugs were created in 1985, and this is number 5,548, as noted on the bottom of the jug. Also on the jug’s bottom, a signature by designer Michael Abberley, as well as “Hand made and Hand decorated Royal Doulton/Made in England” with the renowned crowned lion standing atop a crown. This Royal Doulton Toby Jug is in EXCELLENT condition. No cracks, chips or scratches. This was briefly on display in glass enclosed shelf as part of a collection in the 1980s before going into storage for 30+ years in smoke-free and pet-free environments.
