Antique Royal Doulton KINGSWARE. Modeled Head Night Watchman Whisky Jug. Approx 8.25 tall. Highly collectible Antique Royal Doulton KINGSWARE Modeled Head Night Watchman Whisky Jug with stopper. Highly detailed images of the Night Watchman on this antique Kingsware jug. It bears the early Royal Doulton backstamp along with the R d N o. 4 wide at the base. Approx 5.5 at the widest point. This is a Rare and highly collectible Antique Royal Doulton Kingsware Modeled Head Night Watchman Jug. It is in excellent used vintage condition. There are no cracks, chips, or repairs that I can see. There are some light surface scratches and crazing which is normal for a piece of this age. Please look at all the photos for condition. Vintage Royal Doulton Kingsware Modelled Head. Night Watchman Dewar’s Whisky Flask Jug Flagon. Highly Collectable Royal Doulton Night Watchman Kingsware Flask for Dewar’s Whisky. Kingsware was developed by Charles Noke and produced between 1898 and 1939. Approx 11 tall with stopper. 4.25 wide at the base. Approx 4.5 at the widest point. This Vintage Royal Doulton Kingsware Night Watchman Dewar’s Whisky Flask is in excellent used vintage condition. There are no cracks, breaks, or repairs that I can see. Stopper is not original to this jug. There is a small nick in the glaze shown in the last photo. There are some light surface scratches, which is normal for a piece of this age. Item for sale is a lovely Royal Doulton Whisky Flagon / Flask depicting’The Night Watchman’. Issued with the design/patern number 436947 printed on the base. I t was produced in the first few years of the 20th C. The cork, which is attached to the handle by way of a silver chain, bears hallmarks for 1906 and the marks for George Betjemann & Sons (G B & SONS – badly worn but still decipherable) The body of the jug is ovoid in form with a loop handle. The spout is formed of the face of the nightwatchman which bears a striking resemblance to the personality of’Old Charley’ used in their character jugs. In pre-Victorian times (from 1250’s up to about 1829), the nightwatchmen (precursor of the London’Peeler’ or Bobby/Policeman) were known as “Old Charleys”. There is a full length picture of a Night Watchman with his trade mark pike on the front of the jug. 20 cms tall approx. Condition – As pictured – please carefully study all photos. I tried to take many pictures so that you can see detail, condition and measurements of this item. It is an antique item. It can’t look like a brand new item from supermarket without any imperfections. Some defects are desired, grazing, signs of being used on these objects of beauty emphasis their history. These rare, unique collectables telling the story of their times through their condition, techniques used to manufacture, usually hand made where no item is perfectly alike.
