Awesome Antique Doulton Lambeth 1875 Jug by Artists Eliza Simmance & Emma Martin Approx. 3 3/4 wide at the base Approx. 6 at widest point. This Stunning Antique Doulton Lambeth 1875 Jug bears the early mark of the well known and desirable artist Eliza Simmance. Eliza Simmance, as a designer, was one of the cornerstones of the change at Doultons from the High Victorian Gothic designs to simpler flowing Art Nouveau and Art Deco designs. She started work at Doultons in 1873 and finished in 1928 a period of 55 years. She worked with the illustrious Barlow Family, Arthur, Florence, Hannah and Lucy, but by 1880 she already had a staff of artists under her. On the base it has the etched initials ES for Eliza Simmance and EM for Emma Martin. This Antique Doulton Lambeth Jug by Renown Artist Eliza Simmance is in excellent used antique condition. DESCRIPTION Antique Doulton Lambeth stoneware diamond jubilee commemorative pitcher dating to the late part of the 19th century. Dating to 1897 this typical two tone style along with applied engraving characters (appliqué) was made to celebrate the royal diamond jubilee of the reign of Queen Victoria who had ruled for 60 years. This ceramic pitcher is a stunning example of Doulton Lambeths fine work. This particular piece was made by the Doulton artist Alice Millborrow and is signed on the bottom. Marked on the body: Del Gratia Victorian Queen & Empress 1837 1897 She Wrought Her People Lasting Good Marked on the base: Doulton Lambeth England 7395 M (Alice Millborrow) A great example of British pottery at the height of the British Victorian empire. This antique pitcher would make a great addition to any antique kitchen, royal celebration, Victorian collectible or as a decorative item for a rustic home decor. Antique Royal Doulton Moorish Gateway Arab Seriesware matching jug and creamer. Issued: 1912 – 1945. Very detailed, the jug depicting a couple of gentlemen seated in front of a gateway with minarets visible beyond and the creamer featuring a seated Arab woman playing a musical instrument. Both pieces are relief moulded and hand painted, featuring two of 24 scenes designed by H. Complete with Royal Doulton black backstamps and hand painted Doulton number D4601. The jug has no cracks or crazing, a couple of small fleabites on the spout and a repair to the jug rim. The creamer has a couple of cracks, some crazing and age spots on the inside. 11.5 cm tall. 13.5 cm wide from handle to spout. 2.5 cups capacity. 6.5 cm tall. 13.5 cm from handle to spout. Antique Royal Doulton Stoneware / Pottery Puzzle Jug / Vase. A fabulous example of a Royal Doulton stoneware puzzle jug. The jug is footed bulbous ovoid body tapering to a tall cylindrical neck pierced with band of tiny holes below the molded rim with band of small cylindrical tubes. Reads – Within this jug there is good liquor, Tis fit for parson or for vicar, for how to drink and not to spill, will try the utmost of your skill. Condition – Very good. No damage or repairs. In the interest of both parties its important to remember that many of the items stocked are very old. All item pictures are taken under bright white product photography lighting. Although we always try to show the products colours to the best of ability, on occasions it is possible that the colours in the picture might slightly differ from the actual. The condition is always described taking into account the age of the item. For example, is the item in a certain condition considering its x amount of years old. Mint – No damage, like new. This early 19th century Toby pitcher is marked with the gold anchor which is an early Davenport mark. It stands 8 1/2 inches tall and about 5 1/2 inches wide. Excellent hand painted details. Note that the hands and the beer mug are separated from the body, this is and early feature showing that the mug parts were molded in pieces and then attached, not cast in one piece as in later examples. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN DOULTON LAMBETH ENGLAND STONEWARE MOTTO JUG PITCHER 7629. EXCEPTIONAL DOULTON LAMBETH STONEWARE MOTTO JUG. Presenting an exceptionally fine antique Doulton Lambeth stoneware motto jug or pitcher dating to the late 1800s. This wonderfully impressive piece features four applied relief portraits contained within sun-shaped medallions. Four motto’s surround the medallions reading For every ill beneath the sun there is a remedy or none If there be one then try and find it If there be none then never mind it. This superb piece has an appealing form, with bulbous shaped body leading to a squat neck and flared rim. A large applied strap handle beautifully connects the shoulder with the rim. This piece is finished in a wonderfully earthy brown salt glaze, with deep brown trimming the foot, shoulder and the underside of the flared rim. This exceptional example is presented in very good antique condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There are a few exceptionally tiny fleabite sided nibbles to the tips of the sun shaped medallions, extremely minimal and noticeable only on very close examination but mentioned for complete accuracy. This piece has been very well cared for and. This impressive piece stands approx 180mms tall excluding the handle and measures 135mms in diameter at its widest excluding handle. This piece is beautifully marked to the base with an impressed “Doulton Lambeth England 7629″ impressed initials “SN” and the decorators inscribed mark. A rare antique Doulton Lambeth 1880 stoneware pitcher, signed. Featuring beautiful blue raised flowers and white dots against a brown background. The pitcher is a tapered cylinder form with elegant curved handle and dot trim. There is a silver metal mount at the top. 8.5″h x 6.5″w spout to handle end.
