Antique Royal Doulton Stoneware Jug, C1910, Vintage English Pottery Vase, Cobalt Blue & Salt Glaze, No. 8678 English cottagecore kitchenware Antique Royal Doulton Stoneware Jug / Vase – Pattern 8678, Edwardian c. 1905 This beautiful antique stoneware jug by Royal Doulton is a real Edwardian gem – rich in colour, weighty in feel, and full of charming detail. It’s the kind of piece that brings warmth and history to any room, whether you display it as a characterful vase, use as a water pitcher, or simply enjoy it as a standalone accent. The jug is made from classic salt-glazed stoneware, with a high-gloss cobalt blue upper section and a textured tan body adorned with applied cream and dark blue flower motifs in low relief. A band of gothic arches encircles the shoulder, giving it that quintessential turn-of-the-century Doulton look. The side of the jug features a lovely raised motif beneath the handle, resembling a fleur-de-lis, adding an extra touch of classic elegance. The base is impressed with the Royal Doulton lion and crown mark, along with the pattern number 8678 and potter’s initials hd. It’s a fine example of their decorative ware from the Edwardian era. Condition: Very good antique condition with no chips or cracks. There are a few small manufacturing irregularities typical of stoneware from this period, including glaze blobs and rough patches – notably a small protruding lump and an associated line on the base near the handle (see photos), which is a firing flaw rather than damage. On very close inspection two of the small flowers have tiny dinks from their centre but this is barely noticeable. 16 cm high x 13 cm wide x 16 cm wide including handle (6.3 in x 5.1 in x 6.3 in) Styling tip: This makes a wonderful rustic vase for a kitchen windowsill, country dresser or mantel. Fill it with dried flowers, or let it shine on its own as part of a vintage ceramics display. ? Please check out my shop for other rare and beautiful vintage and antique items.
