Scarce Royal Doulton Musical Character Jug: Auld Mac. Musical jugs are among the most rare Doulton collectables because few were made. There were only six jugs models made – Auld Mac, Old Charley, Paddy, Tony Weller and both the brown and yellow version of Old King Cole. They look just like the large jug version with a slightly extended base to accomodate the Thorens music mechanism. The music tune is appropriate to the jug. The jugs were introduced in the late 1930’s and discontinued by 1945. Condition: Excellent with no chips, cracks or repairs. Surprisingly, there is very little crazing to be found.
