C1870 Pewter Art Pottey Ewer Jug Fulham, Martin Brothers, Doulton
C1870 Pewter Art Pottey Ewer Jug – Fulham, Martin Brothers, Doulton. A fine antique pewter mounted art pottery jug in the style of Fulham, Martin Brothers or Royal Doulton and dating from the late 19th century. The stoneware jug stands on a narrow rounded foot with a pear shaped body and funnel shaped top. The jug has a loop handle and is fitted with a pewter mounted hinged lid with a raised finial. The jug is decorated with panels with incised scroll designs decorated in blue against a brown textured salt glazed ground set between blue painted panels. Further designs contained in small roundels are applied around the handle and to the neck of the jug. The jug is not marked. Dimensions The jug is 9.25 inches (24cm) tall with a main body diamter of 4.5 inches (11.5cm). It weighs 0.72 Kg. Condition The jug is offered in decent condition. There is an area of professional restoration around the top rim of the jug but this is only apparent inside the rim as it is covered by the pewter top. They are no cracks. The body has glazing faults in the form of small pock marks. For further details and condition see pictures. Rare & Highly Collectable Doulton Lambeth Horses & Dog Jug / Ewer by renowned and desirable artist. Base stamped with Doulton Lambeth backstamp dated 1874, and signed by HANNAH BARLOW. 9 3/4 tall, approx. 3 wide at the base, & approx. 5 at widest point. This horses & dog jug is beautiful. Hannah Barlow is probably the most famous member of the family that between them produced some of the finest decorative works ever produced by Doultons. Hannah joined Doulton in 1871 after doing freelance work for them previously and she stayed for 42 years until 1913. This horses and dog jug is a beautiful example of her highly sought after work. 1877 SUPERB ROYAL DOULTON LAMBETH STONEWARE EWER PITCHER JUG BY LOUISA EDWARDS. Edwards & Emma Martin dated for 1877. This stunning antique Doulton Lambeth stoneware ewer/pitcher/jug is of a wonderful bulbous shape with a short slim neck with a wide rim and pouring lip and short curved handle, standing on a circular spreading base. It is superbly decorated with an embossed leaf and scroll pattern with beaded decoration in dark and pale blue and brown colours, superb quality and craftsmanship. Measuring 9 1/2″ high by 4 1/2″ at its widest part of the body approx. It is in excellent antique used condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or restoration and is impressed marked to the base with the Date 1877, the Doulton Lambeth mark and artists/designers marks of ELE for Louisa E.
